Ayushman Bharat Yojana

Ayushman bharat Yojana scheme is also referred as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a flagship scheme of Government of India that aims to assist the economically weaker sections of society who need healthcare facilities. The scheme is announced by Prime minister Shri Narender Modi with a target to cover more than 50 crore Indian citizens and nearly 10 Crore underprivileged families without any limitations regardless of  family size and age. Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) are its two components. Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme serves the needs of the poor and rural families, which is why it is economically beneficial to the poor and destitute households in rural and urban areas.

Anemia Mukt Bharat

  • The scheme has been launched as part of Intensified National Iron Plus Initiative (NIPI) Program for enhancing the annual declining rate of anemia from 1% to 3% points.
  • The target audience under this scheme includes children (6-59 months), (5-9 years), Adolescent Girls & Boys(10-19 years), Women of Reproductive Age (15-49 years), Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers.
  •  The Anemia Mukt Bharat programme follows a 6*6*6divides its target group into six beneficiary groups using six interventions and six institutional mechanisms to achieve its goal of reducing anemia under the POSHAN Abhiyan.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

  • Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a maternity benefit scheme implemented in all districts of the country w.e.f 1st January, 2017.
  • It is a direct benefit cash transfer scheme being executed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Public Distribution System

  • The Public Distribution System (PDS) is an Indian food security system for distribution of food grains at affordable costs. It disburse subsidized food and non-food items to weaker sections.
  • The scheme is administered by Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution.
  • The Central and State Governments works together in order to provide food grains to the beneficiaries.
  • The centre acquires food grains from farmers at a minimum support price (MSP) and sells it to states at central issue prices. It is responsible of the center to transport the grains to godowns in each state.
  • States have the responsibility of transporting food grains from these godowns to ration shop, where the beneficiary buys the food grains at the lower central issue price.

LaQshya Scheme

  • LaQshya stands for Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative.
  • It is scheme launched by Government of India with an aim to reinforce quality of care within the labour room and maternity operation theatres in public health facilities.
  • It is supposed to reduce and ultimately eliminate Maternal Mortality in India.
  • The scheme is run by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

ICDS(Integrated Child Development Services)

  • Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) is a welfare programme that provides food, preschool education, and primary healthcare to children under 6 years of age and their mothers.
  • The scheme is intended to improve the health and nutritional status of the children from 0-6 years.
  • This scheme is renamed as Anganwadi services.
  • The scheme offers different services like Supplementary Nutrition, Pre-school non-formal education, Nutrition & Health Education, Immunization, Health Check-up and Referral services.
  • The Ministry of Women and Child Development is the nodal ministry.
